Shipping of Ashes

Note: For convenient reference, please print this page and use it as a checklist.

You may legally ship the ashes/cremated remains to us or ask your mortuary or crematorium to ship for you.

  1. Please make sure that the container of ashes (the original box or bag is best) is completely sealed and placed in a mailing envelope or shipping box.
  2. Write “Cremated Remains” on the address side of the envelope or shipping box.
  3. Include within the envelope or shipping box (or attach securely to the outside) the following completed forms and documents:
    • Ash Scattering Authorization Form
    • Death Certificate (unless Faxed earlier to 303-980-0512)
    • Written statements, eulogy, Scripture, poetry and/or prayer that you wish to have read at the time of the scattering (unless Faxed or emailed earlier)
    • Optional: completed DVD form. Click the ”DVD Request Form“ link at the right if you wish to receive a professionally-produced DVD (as specified on the “Servicing & Pricing” link above) rather than a time/date stamped photograph of the scattering.
    • Cashier’s check or money order in the amount of $500. Add an additional $225 if ordering the DVD. Add the additional amount agreed upon for special requests (see #4 below and the “May we request” section of the “Services & Pricing” link above.

  4. Any special requests or arrangements regarding the scattering should be made via email or telephone conversation (303-304-9838) prior to shipping the cremated remains. Special requests agreed to by Rocky Mountains Scatterings will be confirmed in writing prior to receipt of payment.

  6. For your “peace of mind,” we recommend sending via U.S. Postal Service, REGISTERED MAIL, RETURNED RECEIPT. (Some other delivery services do not ship cremated remains.)
